Direct Air Capture
Notrees, TX

\

1,340 Turnkey Drilled Shafts 24” – 36” in diameter

\

47,845’ linear feet total (9+ miles)

Vantage was contracted as the turnkey deep foundation contractor for the largest Direct Air Capture Facility in the world located in West Texas, consisting of over 1,300 drilled piers and 370 helical piles. The drilled piers ranged from 24” to 48” of varying depths, totaling over 48,000 linear feet, 6,400+ yards of concrete and more than 600 tons of rebar. Due to high ready-mixed concrete demand in the Permian, Vantage also utilized & operated company owned concrete roller trucks as needed to maintain schedule and production. Vantage utilized 4 drill rigs, a 30-ton excavator equipped with a 115k pound drive head, 2 cranes, various support equipment, 30+ field personnel including full-time QA/QC & field safety for a total project duration of 8 months onsite. Above all else and in despite of a record setting Summer with temperatures reaching 114 degrees onsite, Vantage safety completed the project with zero recorded injuries or lost time.

Gypsum Facility
Sweetwater, TX

\

396 Turnkey Drilled Shafts 24 Inches to 66 Inches in Diameter

\

11,400 Total Linear Feet Drilled

The Gypsum Manufacturing Facility consisted of 396 drilled shaft foundations ranging from 24” to 66” of varying depths, totaling over 11,000 linear feet. All drilled shafts required various penetrations into bearing stratum with rock strengths upwards of 20,000 PSI. Unseasonal rain in the area required aggressive de-watering efforts to drill shafts and maintain hole integrity, while setting rebar and placing concrete. Vantage also performed a secondary scope of drilled pier foundations for the installation of (35) 110’ concrete monopoles for the property lighting. Vantage utilized two fully equipped crews to complete the project on time and under budget.

Food Industry Distribution Center
Hutchins, TX

\

1,050 Turnkey Drilled Piers

\

20,750 Total Linear Feet Drilled

The distribution center located in Hutchins, TX consisted of (1050) 24-inch drilled shafts of varying depths, totaling over 20,750 linear feet. Vantage provided the engineered design for and performed LPile analysis for all drilled piers on the project. All drilled shafts required various penetrations into competent limestone to achieve proper bearing stratum penetration. At the request of the GC/Owner, Vantage performed above grade forming of 434 shafts from 16”-20” above grade as a cost saving measure that also increased constructability performance. This effort allowed the concrete contractor to begin forming pier caps and slabs while eliminating the need for further excavation. Vantage was able to install the 434 shafts in under a month, reaching up to 495 linear feet drilled and poured per day. Vantage utilized three fully equipped crews to complete the project on time despite the unseasonal weather events that fell upon peak construction times during the project.
Crypto Currency Mining Facility
Odessa, TX
\

2,000 Turnkey Helical Piers and Caps

The Crypto Currency Data Center in Odessa, TX consisted of 2000 installed helical piers ranging from 3.5” OD to 7.5” OD. Due to the geological conditions on site, each installation site was pre drilled to maintain the desired torque specifications of helical piers. Each pier was surveyed to maintain design tolerance, and cut to required reveal height. Galvanized plates were installed for easy mounting of cable tray supports, junction box sites, and facility installation.

Cattail – Cherokee T-Line
Texas City, TX

The Cattail to Cherokee Transmission Line Rebuild Project was performed for Texas New Mexico Power in Texas City, TX. The foundations portion of the project ran from late 2022 into early 2023. Vantage constructed large diameter drilled piers while drilling 100% under slurry and every pier required either full-length or partial length casing to mitigate the ground conditions typical of the Texas Gulf Coast. The remaining structures were constructed using “socket” style caissons using the vibratory method of installation. 80% of work is done on highway with traffic control while the remaining 20% was done inside the Marathon and Valero refinery properties. This project was successfully completed while mitigating a myriad of obstacles and regulations that come with highway and refinery work.

McKenzie – West Side T-Line
Corpus Christi, TX

AEP McKenzie-Westside TLine Rebuild in Corpus Christi, TX. Approximately 11 miles of 138kV transmission line foundations for the rebuild of an existing 138kV line. This project consisted of a mix of larger diameter drilled pier dead-ends and direct embedded tangent structures. All drilling was accomplished while drilling under slurry due to the sandy, soft coastal soil coupled with plenty of ground water intrusion. Approximately 25% of the drilled piers required the introduction of full-length permanent steel casing to mitigated the ground conditions and leave the customer with a solid foundation.

Mato Switching Station
Dallas, TX

The AEP Mato Switching Station consisted of 153 drilled pier equipment foundations ranging from 24” to 66” of varying depths and various pads, slab foundations, and one transformer oil containment pit. Vantage performed the layout of all foundations along with execution of the full foundations scope.
Brazos River Electric Coop
McLennan County, TX
Greenfield substation build for BREC that consisted of (121) drilled pier equipment foundations, (24) concrete equipment slabs and (1) large XFMR pad with oil containment pit. Project completed on time and on budget.

Renewable Energy

\

Confidential Project
Completed May 2023

This project in West Texas consisted of 320 drilled shafts 42” in diameter. Due to extreme loads required for these shafts, tolerance was very tight with a 1% verticality requirement, along with a maximum 2” positional tolerance for all shafts. Vantage was able to consistently achieve these tolerances, despite the challenging geology with caliche & sandstone layers over 10,000 psi. Vantage also employed 3rd party Sonic Caliper testing to prove shaft verticality to Vantage’s field methods. Additionally, down-hole CCTV inspections were done to ensure the base of all shafts were compliant. Vantage also performed Cross Hole Sonic Logging for 108 shafts to prove concrete integrity throughout the project totaling over 23,000 linear feet of CSL tubing. Vantage utilized 4 drill rigs, 2 cranes, 3 Vantage Concrete Roller Trucks & accompanying equipment to complete the project.
